A forkable EigenCompute app that supports an on-chain escrow contract with Eigen Compute interaction, and Privy-authenticated RPCs.

A TEE-backed hot–cold guessing game with a React frontend and Privy wallet authentication. Users prepay guesses on-chain, receive deterministic hints from the enclave, and the first exact match claims the pooled pot.

Prerequisites

Before starting development, you need to:

  1. Deploy the HotColdGame Contract (Required First Step)

    • See onchain/README.md for complete deployment instructions
    • The contract must be deployed before the TEE server can function
    • You'll need the contract address for the TEE server configuration
  2. Set up Privy Account

    • Create an account at Privy Dashboard
    • Get your PRIVY_APP_ID and PRIVY_APP_SECRET
  3. Get Blockchain RPC URL

    • For Sepolia testnet: Use a public RPC or create an account with Infura/Alchemy
    • Add it to your .env file as RPC_URL

Setup & Local Testing

Quick Start (Run Both Backend & Frontend)

Important: Deploy the HotColdGame contract first! See onchain/README.md for deployment instructions.

#    - VITE_TEE_SERVER_URL (frontend needs to know where backend is)

This will start:

  • Backend: TEE server on http://localhost:8000
  • Frontend: Vite dev server on http://localhost:3000

Note: After deploying the HotColdGame contract, remember to:

  1. Point the backend to the deployed address (GAME_CONTRACT_ADDRESS)
  2. Use onchain/scripts/update-buyin.sh if you need to raise the buy-in mid-round
  3. Verify the contract address is configured: http://localhost:8000/gameAddress

Individual Services

Backend only:

TLS Configuration (Optional)

This project includes optional automatic TLS certificate management using Caddy. The Caddyfile is not required - if you don't need TLS termination or prefer to handle it differently, you can simply delete the Caddyfile.

How It Works

When a Caddyfile is present in your project root:

  • Caddy will automatically start as a reverse proxy
  • It handles TLS certificate acquisition and renewal via Let's Encrypt
  • Your app runs on APP_PORT and Caddy forwards HTTPS traffic to it
  • Certificates are stored persistently in the TEE's encrypted storage

Without a Caddyfile:

  • Your application runs directly on the configured ports
  • You can handle TLS in your application code or use an external load balancer

Deployment Checklist

Before deploying with TLS:

  1. Configure TLS: Run eigenx app configure tls to add the necessary configuration files for domain setup with private traffic termination in the TEE.

  2. DNS: Ensure A/AAAA record points to your instance (or reserved static IP). Note: If this is your first deployment, you will need to get your IP after deployment from the eigenx app info command.

  3. Required configuration in .env:

  5. Customize Caddyfile (optional):

    • Edit Caddyfile to match your application port
    • Modify security headers as needed
    • Configure rate limiting or other middleware

TLS Testing & Debugging

  • Enable Caddy logs to see TLS-related output:

  • Use Let's Encrypt staging for testing (avoids rate limits, but certificates won't be trusted by browsers):

Local Development

For local development without TLS, leave DOMAIN empty or set to localhost in your .env file.

Custom Certificates

To use custom certificates instead of Let's Encrypt, modify the Caddyfile:
