The A1Z26 encoding ("cipher") got its name from the way it works: A=1, B=2, ..., Z=26. It is the most straightforward possible letter to numbers translation. It's a Brazilian "Choose Your Own Adventure" (Solo RPG Adventure) gamebook set in the 1920s published by Jambô.
The book was written by Karen Soaralle and Alexandre Ottoni, in 2022, being the most successful crowdfunded project in Brazil.

Purpose

Since the adventure relies on investigating and converting names to summed numbers to verify the answers, this tool was built to prevent conversion and summing mistakes.
